Due to Shikhar Dhawan’s ordinary return from England, The opener is unlikely to be included in India’s Test squad for the upcoming series against West Indies. Dhawan played four of the five Test matches against the host but failed to produce a single convincing knock to cement his spot in the side for the West Indies series. The writing is on the wall for him and he is all set to be replaced by domestic run machine Mayank Agarwal, who has been in red-hot form in the domestic circuit for a while now.
Dhawan’s opening partner in limited overs cricket, Rohit Sharma is also not in the line to get a Test recall, a report in Indian Express suggests. The Mumbai batsman is currently leading the Indian side in the ongoing Asia Cup 2018 and has been in terrific touch scoring two half-centuries and a century in four games. After a lot of debate over his absence from the Indian Test squad for England, the selectors have decided to keep Rohit out of the equation form the longest format of the game.
Rohit last featured in whites on India’s tour of South Africa, earlier this year where he couldn’t justify his spot after failing to deliver on top. Young Prithvi Shaw who is turning heads with his bat in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy is all set to make his Test debut against Windies after earning his maiden Test call-up against England last month. Shaw and Agarwal were brilliant for India A and will feature in the Board President’s XI for the two-day warm-up game against the visitors in Baroda.
